             Flanked by turntablist NikNak and the London              
             Contemporary Orchestra, Cassie Kinoshi leads              
             her award-winning ensemble through a                      
             kaleidoscopic fusion of jazz and contemporary             
             electronics.                                              

             UK jazz is flourishing right now, and alto                
             player/bandleader Cassie Kinoshi's at the front           
             and center of the renaissance. After being                
             nominated for a Mercury Prize with 2019's                 
             'Driftglass', she decided to expand the scope             
             on 'gratitude', bringing in help from NikNak,             
             who she ran into at Marsden Jazz Festival in              
             2019, plus the estimable LCO. This widens the             
             seed. sound considerably - the dextrous modern            
             jazz flavor they exhibited on their last album            
             is still there, but fleshed out by lavish                 
             orchestral flourishes and subtle electronic               
             squeaks and squelches. On the flip, 'Smoke in             
             the Sun', a recording made at London's Total              
             Refreshment Centre in 2021 finishes things off.
